Parallel Manifesto

2016 – Performance

20 min, computer, microphone, coins

Description

Presented at Parallel 2016 in Vienna, Austria on 24.09.2016

Within the exhibition by Mikro from Zürich at the Vienesse Parallel I was invited to perform together with Melanie Kistler and Marlene Lahmer. While Melanie plays a gold statue that moves after money has been given, Marlene and I play in the room with coins whose sounds are recorded by a microphone. A Pure-Data Patch loops the sounds and plays them further in the room through two amplifiers. While the coin cluster plays the statue improvises to these noises.

Toward the end of the performance Marlene reads a poem written by her. The title of the performance Parallel Manifesto is to be understood as an intervention within the parallel and its structure, in which the coins, as a symbol, again call upon the emergence of the cultural capital.
