This composition for bass and electric cello originally came from an ambient loop, which I once recorded. The idea of playing the bass as an ambient instrument is central and will show up throughout the piece as the cello should be understood as the solo instrument. While the cello might improvise in the composition, the bass part is quite fixed.

The computer was used to record the cello and create loops at the same time. This gives a rather gloomy texture, especially when the cello plays quite high tones. In the end there is an improvised interplay between the computer recording the cello and the resulting feedback from the bass effects.
