Presented at Building New Aarau<\/a><\/strong> in Noseland<\/a><\/strong>, Sch\u00f6ftland<\/strong>, Aargau<\/strong>, Switzerland<\/strong> on 04.12.2016<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The citizens who wish to become citizens of Neu Aarau<\/strong> are able to express their wishes in a ten-second period through the microphone. Their wishes are recorded and play backed in a sound cloud with the previously recorded sound desires. A coin noise accompanies the recordings and creates the feeling of a fountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sound desires are not always to be heard, however, since a programming patch always makes them 5% quieter and makes them disappear a bit more throughout their play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruno Schlatter<\/strong> founded the fictional land of Noseland<\/strong>, which is located in Sch\u00f6ftland<\/strong>, Aargau<\/strong>, in 2008. The exhibition Building Neu Aarau<\/strong> dealt with the discussion about the fictitious city as a new part of Noseland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Dietsch<\/strong> was a German writer, who wrote about the fictitious attempts to build a new city \u201cNew Aarau<\/strong>\u201d – the future capital of \u201cNeu Helvetia<\/strong>\u201d; and documented them in a diary. The writer lived in the same house in which Bruno Schlatter<\/strong> lives nowadays and Schlatter<\/strong> takes a historical reference to his writings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
