2017 – Performative Intervention
smartphone, 36 oscillator samples
Description
Presented at Migrating Soundcloud Volume II in Soldanellastrasse 1, Zürich, Switzerland on 23.03.2017
In this work, the SonicMaps app was used to distribute several monophonic samples from a synthesizer on a digital map so that the listener can experience the formation of different sound intervals during the run.
The sounds are positioned in such a way that a bass can always be heard, so that the additional middle and high tones can create intervals. As the participants move through the sonic map, they can also choose their own site specific combinations.
With regard to smartphone culture technology, the research question out of this work asks how we can read music and sound towards images and how to deal with them when they get abstracted from their physical data carrier on a mobile digital level through code.
